NaNo Update: Week Three

So at the end of week three, I am stalled out at around 27k. The charming NaNo bar graph says my cumulative wordcount should be in the 31k range. Why have I fallen so far behind, you ask? Well, it was a combination of things. One, I started thinking too much about the plot and what I’d already written. I didn’t go back and actually read what I have down already but, I just know that the end draft is going to have me starting closer to the action or the main conflict. At this point the main conflict is about 15 chapters in. That’s way too far from the beginning and I know that if this were an actual book, my reader has already put the it down or thrown it at the wall. I know I should just write through it but, unfortuantely, I can’t write like that. I have to go back and fix it before I can go on and that’s where I’m at. I’m not sure if I’ll get to finish this NaNo project before the month is done. (NaNo graph says NO). Either way, it will get it finished.

The second thing to get in the way of my NaNo-ing is my line edits came back for The Undoing of Langston Black. (Thanks super sekrit editor friend!) Now I have to write a blurb (did I mention I hate writing blurbs?) and after that publish, publish, publish. I also need to get out some review requests to a few blogs starting with my own. I would happy to give away a copy of The Undoing of Langston Black or LoveWanderLust for a review on Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, or your own personal blog. Just send me an email at authortharrison(at)gmail(dot)com with REVIEW as the subject and I’ll get one right out to you.

The third thing to get in the way of my writing this week is the unfortunate news that The Hubs won’t be home for the holidays…again. Admittedly, I should be used to this considering the fact that I’m an ex-military wife and former soldier and all but, that does not minimize that fact that it sucks donkey balls. Huge ones. So needless to say, I’m a little depressed and it has affected my productivity. Hopefully the holiday blues will have left me by Thanksgiving considering that I have a lot of family coming to town (allegedly…I’ll believe it when they show up on my doorstep).

So that’s it for this weeks wrap up.
