I’ve decided, after much contemplation, that I will remain steadfast in my two pronged approach to publishing. I will self-publish what books and stories I want but, I will continue pursue publishing with established eBook publishers. I’m not really all that concerned with print publishing anymore. My feeling right now (which may change in the coming months) is that if it’s meant to happen, it will. I’m just more anxious to publish with someone who will not have me waiting for months and months while they type up a three line letter to refuse my manuscript. I spent the better part of 2008 doing that and I don’t want to do it again. There’s a market out there for what I write and, let’s just face it, ePublishers and indie authors are reaching and meeting the needs of their audiences in a quicker and more focused manner.
So that’s my resolution this year. To write what I want, publish what I want and keep as much balance as possible in my life. Joe Konrath has an excellent post on writer’s resolutions which all make sense and really got me thinking this morning.
Here’s to hoping…cheers.
