THE-FUCKING-END or 3 things I learned from finishing #NotSoSoft #mondayblogs #amwriting

So, you guys, I finished Not So Soft this weekend.

*dances a goddamn jig*

This has been a labor of love for the last five months, and I’m so happy to be done with it. Not So Soft was never meant to be a big deal. At most, it was destined to be a .99cent short story, but apparently, this plot had other ideas. I feel so fulfilled by posting it as #FreeFilth on this here blawg and the process taught me a few things:

1. It renewed my faith in plotting.

I had a lot of feelings when Not Do Soft refused to follow the scene list I’d plotted last winter. I didn’t know how to understand my process. I’d employed a strict plotting regimen for the last two books, and I felt betrayed by the process when Not So Soft wouldn’t be cowed. But in this process, I learned that sometimes the original needs to be revised–even when I think that the last scene list revision was the FINAL revision.

There is no final until it’s published. Remember that, younguns.

2. I still really love these characters and the world I created. The Lust Diaries will always and forever be a place I can revisit to play around when my writing gets boring or too difficult. Writing this has helped renew my love for crafting new characters and that is invaluable.

3. Giving away shit for free has and always will boost sales.

This probably doesn’t make any sense, but it’s true. Posting Not So Soft for free on this here blawg had resulted in a noticeable uptick in book sales. So the adage stands–if you want to sell more books, WRITE MOAR BOOKS.

I will continue to post the last few chapters of Not So Soft in the coming weeks. I hope you enjoy the ending, but I offer it with my usual disclaimer: it’s filthy.
